Retouching in Lightroom vs. Photoshop Actions March 31, 2010

I love Lightroom. It’s becoming easier for me to use to edit sessions, apply effects quickly and see how multiple versions of the photos side by side with virtual copy. But what to use for the fine editing, such as softening skin, retouching eyes and imperfections –Lightroom or Photoshop?

I still don’t have an answer. But I love the simplicity of mcpactions.com and the video tutorials and sample Jodi provides.

I’m also a fan of Coffeeshop Photography, which offers tutorials on retouching in both Photoshop/PSE and Lightroom, as well as free Photoshop/PSE actions.

Stay tuned for an update. I’m determined to refine a workflow and speed up my processing.

Tired of retouching, I played around with layers, saturation, textured stamps and type. Big thanks to Franz Jeitz of Fudgegraphics.com for tape brushes.

I forgot to post the link last night for the tutorial by Matt Kloskowski that I used to create my watermark in photoshop. I really like it and it was easy to follow. Now to create an action to automate sizing of photos the web and putting the watermark on it. http://www.layersmagazine.com/subtle-watermarking.html
Layers Magazine is also a great resource for other information and tips on all of Adobe Creative Suite, not just photoshop. Also check out Matt’s Lightroom Killer Tips blog.

I love orchids. Photographing them led to growing them … led to them dying. I just don’t have the knack for it.  But I keep trying.  The top image,  in black and white, doesn’t appeal to everyone. Let me know what you think.

The light was near perfect when I came home. I couldn’t resist getting out the camera to photograph the dogs and then play around with some techniques I’d recently learned.
